hi all, i just got back from cross country training today, and im exhausted! I ran pretty far today - 3 x 3.2km and 1 x 4.8, followed by and unmeasured slow run, about 2 or 3km. i feel dead tired and im probably going to hit the sack early tonight cos i have school tomorrow. I am going to tell you about my CCA for a few minutes, then i have got to go. Ok, erm, i can start with some of my friends, like Merritt. He's the first friend i made that was on the team, and i think he's my best friend on the team as well. Then there is Santosh, he is from nepal, and is a very good runner and soccer player and is very popular. There is also Kelvin, from cambodia, and is also very popular and very good at soccer, and, he's the "C" division captain. He's quite humble about it, and he's very funny. There are some new sec 1 runners that i havent gotten a chance to meet yet, and i look forward to finding time to talk to them. I know one of them who is from my primary school and his name is Kevin. He's tall, skinny, and i think he's pretty good at his studies.I dont know the upper secondary boys very well, but i will tell you what i do know about some of them. My favourite one would have to be Thava, sorry if i didnt spell it correctly, but thats how most of us pronounce his name. He's a skinny, well not so skinny, indian guy who's very very funny and we make fun of his so called " very hairy legs " and Merritt teases him by called him a "hairy gorilla" and "hairy monster", and that makes all of us laugh, even Thava. He's a very good natured person, who doesnt feel hurt by our comments on his hairy legs, and takes them in good stride. The team captain used to be Ashraf, who is another good soccer player, but now he is in Junior College, so he doesnt run with us anymore. The new team captain is Kevin, and he's quite nice to me, and he seemed to care alot about my leg when i injured it. Another guy who has graduated to JC is Lee Ming Hui. He was the fastest runner on our team last year, til he went off to JC. He was also the fastest runner in singapore at one time too! But he still turns up for training with us. He's my so called role model, and i think he is for alot of other boys, because he's very mature, responsible, confident but not cocky, and good natured. He's a little withdrawn though, rarely shares his personal comments with others.
Another few role models are Alan, D'cruz and Rong Hua. They have all come and gone as Victorians, and passed JC. Alan is now in the army! And yet they still come for training despite the fact that they could have stopped years ago. They come to encourage us and talk to us and stuff like that. I admire Alan the most because of his never say die attitude. He never gives up on anything. I heard that he and Rong Hua are the best of friends. Other runners that i havent metioned yet include Joseph, Josiah, Terence, Anur, and Jonathan. Sorry if i forgot to mention any other cross country members! I like Anur most of the above names, because he's serious when its time to be serious, and slack and funny when the time is right. Got to go for now. On the next blog i will tell you about my cross country training trip to Chiangmai, Thailand.
